1st Round of Decathlon’s Stakeholder Consultations

The first round of Decathlon´s stakeholder consultation actions has been successfully conducted. One of the aims of stakeholders’ involvement is to gather their views and opinions on the methods currently being developed within the project, thus understanding better if the work of Decathlon is in alignment with the needs and wishes of the relevant key actors that will use the Decathlon results. The panel of experts that participated in the first round of consultation actions consisted of policy makers, researchers and other experts in the areas addressed by the project.
The three expert consultation actions conducted were focused on detection methods for:
·         Detectability of food pathogens (WP3) – consultation by email during January 2015;
·         Traceability and identification of GMOs (WP4) – expert webinar on the 16th of October 2014;
·         Identification of tobacco/ endangered species in customs (WP5) – expert webinar on the 19th of January 2015.

Continuous improvement and further discussion will be held in the next series of webinars/consultation activities (specific dates to be confirmed). The DECATHLON consortium welcomes new organizations to be involved in the project webinars in order to ensure the project activities are aligned with stakeholder needs.
